hsbc_1.jpgHSBC has appointed leading communications agency Hill+Knowlton Strategies to handle media relations for the business’ sponsorship of the Cutty Sark, a four year project that brings together two iconic institutions of global trade.

The partnership, announced last month, marks the completion of the Cutty Sark Trust’s six year restoration of the ship, which is due to re-open its doors to the public on April 26th.

Hill+Knowlton’s focus will be on combining the rich historical and cultural content of the ships past with HSBC’s expertise as a leading authority on global trade.

Giles Morgan, HSBC group head of sponsorship + events said: “HSBC was founded in Asia to finance trade with the West five years before the Cutty Sark first set sail in 1870. We still see trade as the biggest driver of economic and business growth today, which our partnership with the Cutty Sark Trust reflects. H+K Strategies are a trusted communications partner of the bank, and we are impressed by their approach to bringing the partnership to life.”

Ben Curson, managing director of Hill+Knowlton’s financial + professional services team said: “We’re delighted to be working with HSBC on such an exciting project. The win is testament to both our strong track record in delivering successful campaigns for the business and Hill+Knowlton’s ability to combine our corporate communications expertise with our experience of building and executing world class sponsorship programmes.”
